Mannskapet på "Southern Cross"

 

Her følger korte biografier over mannskapet på båten Southern Cross.

Bernhard Jensen:  Master. Jensen was born in Norway in 1853. He had twenty years experience in ice navigation at the time of becoming Master on Southern Cross.

Jorgen Petersen:  First Mate.  Petersen was another experienced ice navigator who died soon after the expedition in 1900 during a voyage from Australia.

Hans Hansen:  Second Mate. Hansen was born in 1877 and was an experienced hunter and ice navigator.

 Hans Ulis:  Carpenter

Johannes Christian Olsen:   First Engineer.  Olsen held a First-Class certificate and was an experienced engineer and boiler maker. At the time of his appointment to the Southern Cross he was a professional engineer at Jensen and Dahl’s ship building yard at Fredrikstad Norway.

 Julius Johanesen:  Second Engineer.  At the time of Johanesen’s appointment to the Southern Cross he too was working at Jensen and Dahl’s ship building yard at Fredrikstad Norway.
